Many modern buildings feature large glazed panels in windows and doors which provide much appreciated daylight but sometimes allow a clear view from outside.
Unwanted attention from passers-by can be avoided with the application of privacy films. Daylight still floods in whilst restricting the inward view.

Reflective one-way film

Reflective films can be applied across all or part of a glazed panel. Films can be cut to shape making subtle decorative features or, where maximum coverage is required, they can completely cover a panel. It’s worth remembering that at night, and in low light conditions, a well illuminated room may still be visible to an outside observer, so curtains or other screening may be required.

Frosted film

An alternative to reflective one-way film is frosted film. Giving the appearance of traditional etched glass this easily applied film restricts the view in both directions whilst still allowing natural lighting into a space. Cut to shape, this film is ideal for glazed partitions as well as windows. Small shapes and designs also serve as window manifestations on otherwise clear panes, helping to meet building regulations and reduce collisions.

Embossed “Fluted” films

Heavily textured film distorts the view through glazed panels for high levels of light transmission whilst obscuring the view within. A popular choice when it is desirable to see movement through a screen whilst retaining some privacy this film is a quick and low-cost alternative to actual embossed privacy glass.

Printed and shape-cut film

Strong graphic images and shapes benefit from the clean opaque background provided by solid vinyl film. The amount of privacy and light transmission is carefully managed by the motif selected.
Solid films can be useful as window manifestations and have even been shown to reduce bird strike when applied to large reflecting outer windows.
